ImageBAMMA is delighted to announce that the hugely anticipated BAMMA 4 will see Midlander Eugene Fadiora take on Iceland's MMA golden boy Gunnar Nelson. This is a fight that the MMA community has wanted to see for a long time - it’s an important matchup for both men's careers and BAMMA is delighted to be able to provide the big stage that this fight deserves. BAMMA matchmaker Jude Samuel said "I'm so excited by this fight, because its a great stepping stone for either fighter!"

Both men are 22 years old, have a Karate background and have excellent records (Fadiora 9-0 and Nelson 6-0-1) but in many ways that’s where the similarities end.

Gunnar started combat sports aged 13 when he took up Karate. He was seen as one of the best juvenile karateka in Iceland before giving it up to persue other interests, namely BJJ and grappling, both things he also truly excelled at. Gunnar has trained under BJ Penn in Hawaii and obtained a BJJ black belt under Renzo Grazie in New York. He won silver in the 2009 World Jiu Jitsu Championship and Gold in both Gi and No-Gi competitions in the 2009 Pan American Championships. Gunnar is renowned as being a submission specialist, but that only tells half the story, as 50% of his wins have come by way of (T)KO.

Eugene is coming into this fight from a Karate and Kickboxing background. He will be able to put his long limbs, fast feet and quick reactions to good effect, alongside an intelligence and use of the ring that belies his young age. You would assume that Eugene's battle plan will be to keep the fight standing, however he will also be working hard on his scrambling, take down defense and BJJ, as he knuckles down to a rigorous training camp at Liverpool's Kaobon Gym. Eugene's awe inspiring record tells you all you need to know about him. It currently stands at a flawless 9-0-0, 66% of which didn't even see the 2nd round.

Both men have fought on BAMMA cards before. Eugene "The Sniper" Fadiora won in style in BAMMA 1 over Bristolian veteran Nathan Champ. From the offset Eugene dominated the center of the ring - no mean feat, as Nathan is a extremely proficient boxer.

Eugene unleashed combination after combination, utilizing his stinging jab to set up a huge right or devastating high kick. A bad day at the office for Nathan, as Eugene landed nearly everything he threw.

Gunnar Nelson's last MMA fight was at BAMMA 2, where he fought the then undefeated Sam Elsdon. Gunnar managed to submit Sam with a rear naked choke 2:30 into the first round.  This showed Gunnar's absolute dominance on the floor but didn't give him the opportunity to showcase his extremely effective Karate and KO power.

Eugene Fadiora v Gunnar Nelson is simply a fight not to be missed: two of MMA’s hottest prospects coming face to face in the toughest fight of their lives. BAMMA 4 on September 25th at Birmingham’s NIA where these two warriors discover just how good they are.
