I think the guy who designs all the Thai and SEA game posters is Luke who writes the BJJAsia website.
He's a cool guy - I'm gonna drop him a line to say we've been admiring his work. I'm sure he'll be chuffed to know you started this thread and showed his posters.

Hi, this is Luke from BJJ-ASIA.com. Happy to hear people are into some of the posters I've made these past couple of years. I make a point to use just the photos I've taken myself if I can help it.
I believe there are a lot of design-savvy people out there that like things other than 'affliction' style of graphics. So I make it a point to do something that I think is different but still in line with jiu-jitsu. I take a lot of inspiration from album covers and designers like Peter Saville.
Here are the most recent two that I've made for seminars here in Bangkokl, TH. Thanks for the support everyone amd if anyone is looking to visit Southeast Asia and would like help on where to train or what events are coming up, check out
www.bjj-asia.com
or e-mail me at
luke@bjj-asia.com
. Thanks!

Keep up the good work! Looks like you've got a really cool bjj scene going on in SouthEast Asia.

yep, my first reaction was, er, that's a lot of white...but it enhances somehow, less is more, and all that.
For me, it is definitely more effective on the Nic poster than the Garth, my favourite is the Thailand BJJ open...lovely.

Luke is clearly a very talented designer. Some more picks from his BJJ-Asia website:
This made me laugh:

I like the Rickson Cup - you can feel his aura even without a head! Do you know if it's about in a larger size?
Meerkatsu, really like your Ana Maria India poster. She's obviously a photogenic girl but the poster's spot on. Like the silhouette - did you come up with that?

The India poster has a really cool tempo but the double eye contact ruins the flow so I cant absorb the info at the bottom which is like an after thought. Its like an Ana Maria branding exercise rather than promo for an event shes hosting... being hyper critical of course!
