Categories are run by belt/age/weight. You enter whichever category is correct for you.

The weight categories are with the gi on so you'd actually be medium-heavy (under 88.3). If you can drop 2kg then you'd be middleweight (under 82.3). Most gis weigh between 1.7-2.1kg.

Generally the only comps with weight difs are Gi and No-Gi, The No-gi being about 2KG lighter for the weight of a gi

oh right thanks phil i got 1 other question mate just want to make sure of this before i enter any nogi tournements, i understand with gi rules you can choke people out using the gi itself? so if i enter a nogi contest is it bareback or shall me and  my opponent be wearing a  T-shirt or whatever is it forbidden to use the T shirt as a restrain or for choking?

Forbidden. No-Gi, you aren't allowed to hold your opponent's clothing at all.

Sorry. ^_^

The BJJ British Open and the No Gi British Open are run in accordance to the IBJJF rules, inc weights. You will be able to check out their site if you google them.

The official registration website is being worked on as we speak, and aim to have it launched in the next couple of weeks.

Thank you

Ask your instructor?

Otherwise, what do you want to know about competitions?

Hi.

We are looking to book our flights for this.

As it is over 2 days this year, is there a rough timetable for the divisions yet?

I know it is a bit early, but we need to decide if we are flying in on Friday evening or Saturday morning and flying out on Sunday night or Monday morning, which could make a substantial difference to our travel expenses.

Thanks,
Matt
