in comic book guy voice
"best thread ever"
i loved this whole farce and have thouroughly enjoyed the policing done by rob t. this is what makes the bjj community so good, i dont mean all the name calling and slandering, just the willingness to maintain the purity of our art.
after living in australia for the last year and training all over the country i never heard of peter and kym. from the looks of the afbjj website they are no longer affiliated. i never saw anyone from their academy compete in any of the tournaments i entered.
i personally know peter de been head of the afbjj and anyone that has trained and graded under carlinhos or renzo would undoubtedly be know by him. i am also 99% certain they are not black belts and never saw them in 4 months training at peters academy. there website dates back to 2001/2 i believe so maybe they dabbled in the art then??
kieran seems much more mature than his students and seems to have given a fair response as to the whole "situation" but still i think that rob was not at fault for asking who was teaching the bjj class, even if it was proposed as he merely asked a question. surely if you are gauging interest in another art you should put on your group, who would be interested in a bjj class??
the whole .......budo and bujutsu thing is usually just subsiduaries from traditional jiu jitsu that has been changed by every tom dick and harry to form what they personally believe to be a complete art and can only teach themselves.
a bjj competition would not be right for kieran to try and fight in to represent his arts but MMA would be and i think that if he really wanted to then it would be ok for him to fight in an mma bout against one of "us" semi pro rules would probably be benificial to him but i personally dont see him winning on the ground against a skilled bjj practitioner, even at semi pro where he would be a littler safer on the ground, having never studied the art. just my 2 cents worth. ze
oh and this would have been hilarious if faixa rua had been involved to clock choke those that disrespect the art haha

I've watched some competition videos from 1 or 2 of you on youtube, i wont say any names as im not here to cause conflict. I will say that i would be very happy to fight any one of you in competition in whichever style you want.
I will fight you in a nogi or gi match, BJJ or ADCC rules.
I imagine Dave Coles would be up for putting this on as a superfight at one of his competitions?
EDIT: Also, do you have video of you competing posted anywhere? Again, if you find my technique lacking, please offer a critique, it will help me learn. Thanks.

Rob T (mere purple belt), stop it now, you're just taking on aliases just to keep this thread alive.
Come on, no one talks like that in real life, even in TMA world!
Not me, I've just got in from training.

Kieran, you should be the mouth piece for your gym, you are the only one who has managed to respond in an adult manner. Congrats
My offer of a grappling match still stands. Seeing as you said any style, I don't feel the need to fight MMA. Maybe in a few months I'll be up for it, wait until I've had a fight.
One last thing you could clear up for us, have you fought MMA as was claimed and has anyone else from your club fought MMA?

I was going to post the messages I'd had off Kenny Richards (SheepDefiler) because they are quality, but seeing as Kieran has provided a voice of reason, I will not.
I can confirm the people I messaged re the club were; Al Doc, Shoto Kidney, Desmond O'Brian, Anthony Bullock and Kenny Richards... so 5 in total. My guess of 4 was certainly a lot closer than his claim of 30! lol

Kieran, message from another guy at Gracie Barra Swansea;
Rob, i just read the message where that idiot said he seen our videos on youtube and would fight any of us any style. Seeing as he seen my video and the fact that the guy has shown such disrespect, I'd be more than happy to fight this geezer full pro mma in any show after the 27th of june. August 2nd oceana (Swansea) or before if there's a show??? We can make it a charity event, seeing as he's a big fan of charity

I dont see how i have shown any disrespect, i've come on here to try and sort things out in a mature manner, as i dont want this to escalate further, their is no need.
Maybe i should have worded that a little differently, i ment anyone who had a problem with our school. I'm just defending myself and my family. Apparently i'm an idiot now.
I tried to stay out of this as i wont allow myself to get involved in an arguement over the internet, which is why i haven't posted untill now, i felt i had no choice.
I think the only videos i have seen are of Rob T, i didnt want to name people as it just causes conflict, i am not here to do that.. No disrespect was ment from what i said.
If i fight someone it would be with mutual respect, or at least thats what i'd hope for.
However it did seem to me that alot of disrespect had been thrown towards us and you can imagine why i would be upset hearing such things said about me and my family, especially when i dont even know who any of you are. Even still, i stayed calm and tried to address the issue.
I only know 2 people who are members of our club, who have posted on here, although its hard to tell who is who with all the nonsense/bitching inbetween the relevant sanity.
Although i admit that some of their posts are not how i would have worded them but everyone acts differently when they are being insulted.
Rob, if you would like to arrange a fight with me then i'd be happy to try BJJ against you, I'd obviously need some time to train 1st etc.
This is not a grudge match from my view as some people are portaying, but you must admit.. It would be fun after all this?
Win or lose, hopefully then, people will not be so quick to judge

Simon, I don't agree with you on the fact that it 'should be MMA' for a challenge match. Seen as this whole thread started about BJJ claims.. and Kieron made the response to fight 'any style' then why not a grappling match?
We arn't making any claims about this stav shit or something else, just the BJJ side.. which I'm struggling to keep track of all the different claims.
Kieron - you obviously know enough about BJJ already to criticise Rob's technique.. why wait?

What the other guy from my club thinks is nothing to do with me, he thinks you've been disrespecful by saying this;

I think Dave usually has a competition in September, is that ok with you?
I am also still interested in hearing your critique of my matches. Please post it here, I guarantee you can't offend me.

Personally I don't see the point in regaling this any further than it has already gone.
I stated originally both to yourself Rob, personally, and in the forum, that we didn't have a BJJ class running at present, but we were hoping to have one running in the near future, which then was turned from "who is your teacher where did he train" into "who will be teaching and where did he train?"
As my initial comment was more than adequate and perfectly answered your question, this tedious questioning over and over again, was completely defunct and totally annoying.
It was not my place to speak of my Sensei's mild dyslexia nor of his computer skills, but Kieran is able to, so that should be an end to that, but then you Rob, were asked to call him, and he asked you to call him too, that should have been enough of a response to talk about it in a calm and adult manner, rather than persisting with emails and pestering someone into annoyance.
When you have been offered to call personally and discuss something, and you choose to ignore that and persist in demanding emails instead, then that is rude!!
To then go behind that persons back and contact members (you state that you got the message off facebook that you were in threat of spamming? I've added friends in this way, cut and paste job, and hit over 30 before I got that message, so excuse me for differing) of the group basically saying they were being defrauded by Stuart Hicken, well without proof (and there is none at all, nor could there be any) well that is just well over the line.
Of course we jumped to protect our club & Sensei, some of us tried to illicit a a mature response to it in the beginning, then found our own backs being rubbed the wrong way and we responded in kind.
You purposely brought into questionable doubt, within your own forum, the qualifications and experience of ALL our instructors, and some of you still persist in making fun of it. Some have only seen what's been written in here, I would used my real name as my screen name to talk to you guys, but as, for whatever reason, my email wasn't accepted when I first tried, I had to make a different one, numerous attempts at requesting a confirmation link was simply futile as I was never sent one, so I can only surmise my email (same as FB one) had been blocked from the site!!
Kieran has been exceptional in answering all your questions, being a founder of the school he has a lot more info on what is going on within it, he has good naturedly offered a challenge in whatever style you desire and yet still it's a laughing point.
We are not here to cause trouble, and I for one, certainly understand why some of you want to know who'll be teaching, but as we have no active BJJ class running, nor an instructor ready to step in to teach as yet, the stupidity in some of your guys persistence is unnecessarily rude and quite ignorant, when all you had to do was call the school direct and find out first hand from them!!
