Guys/Gals,

Bit of a long shot, but a new gym is openeing up here in Dewsbury and was wondering if there are any folks who might want to donate their GI's if they are no longer using them rather than taking them to a charity shop or binning em.

Your GI's will be most welcomed and used by those new to the sport.

Another great opportunity for our UK suppliers to support the growing of this wonderful sport (eherm Tatami, Black Eagle, Blitz )

If anyone wants any further info please PM me.

Thanks for your support folks.

Why is it? Plenty of clubs use old gis from other members as spares for the new guys - I know I had to wear a massive sweaty club gi the first few times I did BJJ.

I agree, Hanif is trying to help with the establishment of a new club and donated gis help newcomers try out the sport without committing to buying uniforms. but yeah, they do smell after a while  Cheesy

I think it will perhaps show if we all work together then it shows a greater spirit of BJJ of academys and students working for the common good. Though thats my view :-)

Club newcomer gis are actually a conspiracy by gi manufacturers.
Newcomer walks in, wears smelly old gi, thinks ew, I love BJJ but this gi stinks, googles up some gis, cue a lifetime of BJJ-related retail therapy...oops that's just me then.

Seymour arguing for buying new gi's? Who'd a thunk it? Smiley

I think it's a great idea personally. Go recycling!

I'd love to donate my spare gi, but I really don't have one. When I finally get a job, and finally buy a new one - i'll let you know.

Playwell appear to sell the cheapest range of MA clothing. Not saying they're any good, but cheap and if you are a club - you should ask for a club discount on bulk orders.

http://www.playwell.co.uk/

Looking at their judo range, a basic adult student gi costs £18.99

they do a cheapy BJJ gi too - £32.99
And yes I did ask for a review sample but they declined...wonder why?

Decathlon's kimonos are pretty good for beginners:

One of the guys at SMAC got one in 2008 and still uses it now as a spare, so they last quite well.

Black Eagle also do one which is bleached and looks pretty good IIRC for the same price bracket, u even get a belt. Playwell is defo the cheapest though but then the quality does look it TBH but do u care? Dunno what the postage works out at though, I would check how it balances.
